Haha yes, I've found a way to trigger the checkpoint early. To do this, make sure to drift right and boost just as you pass the palm tree. This shortcut will prove worthy in races. But the main question remains - Is this method good enough for the WR? Maybe someone could test the difference to see which shortcut is faster...
