This speedrun was finished on July 27, 2009, playing by New Game in the Easy mode, without saves or special weapons; the final time was 49 minutes and 35 seconds. Fraps software was used to record it.
First, about the diffences of PC version:
- in this version is possible to skip the doors/ladders/etc animations pressing the "map view" button, the same used to skip the normal cutscenes. This is actually the factor that save the most part of time in this run;
- it's possible to uncheck the option of playing CG/FMV movies, with this you save a bit of time;
- as it's a PC version, the game runs faster, so the most part of the loadings are almost non-existent; the change of a camera to another camera is instant, what save a lot time too.
Now about the differences of Easy mode:
- in this mode you start with a lot weapons in the item box, specially the shotgun that is very helpfull in saving time in the run;
- when you take an ammo, you get double, like: when Carlos gives you the flame/freeze rounds, you get 6 bullets on Hard mode, in Easy mode you get 12; or when you mix 6 Grenade rounds with the "gun powder BB", on Hard you get 12 Acid rounds, in Easy you get 24;
- The enemies has about 20% less of vitality.
The enemies/puzzles radomness are exactly the same of Hard mode.
Also, for the game work correctly, you must decrease the "hardware sound acceleration level" to "no acceleration", and it make some sound problems happens, nothing to worry about actually, the most noticeable are:
- in the music box at Clock Tower, it sounds like you did the song all wrong, but it's just a sound bug;
- after finishing the game(when the president is speaking and also in the credits) there is a desync, the sound is a little bit late until the result screen;
- sometimes when you make quick combinations in the inventory the sound get weird(I think Fraps helps a little here).
There may be other minor sound problems, but they are almost imperceptible like some little desyncs in some parts(Fraps stuff).
